Vervolg Jungle Beat?

In een interview met de leider van de groep die werkte aan Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Yoshiaki Koizumi, is wat info losgepeuterd... Met de namen Link’s Awakening, Super Mario 64, Ocarina Of Time, Majora’s Mask, Super Mario Sunshine en Super Mario Galaxy wordt vaak meteen Shigeru Miyamoto geassocieerd. Echter, Yoshiaki Koizumi heeft ook altijd een vinger in de pap gehad bij deze games, met Super Mario Galaxy als laatste juweeltje waarbij hij de game director was. Verder was deze man verantwoordelijk voor het team van Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat op de Gamecube. In een interview met EDGE, is deze Japanse kerel aan de tand gevoeld en daarbij kon natuurlijk de vraag of er een Jungle Beat sequel aan komt, niet uitblijven:

“After working on titles such as Super Mario Sunshine I began to wonder if it was possible to continue to implement the themes of surprise and ease of play with the increasing complexity of camera controls. Until I could find a solution I decided to close off the idea of any future Mario games. I changed my base of operations to EAD Tokyo [Nintendo’s Entertainment and Analysis Division] and we decided to make a 2D action game using the bongos as the controller. [...]

Koizumi remains coy about what he will work on next. He evidently enjoyed working on Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat: “A sequel, you mean?” he asks. “Oh, I can’t really talk about that…””
