Nintendo ontvangt 2 BAFTA-awards

De jaarlijkst BAFTA awards zijn uitgereikt en Nintendo heeft 2 prijzen in de wacht kunnen slepen. Nintendo heeft tot nu toe eigenlijk nog maar een AAA-titel uitgebracht en dat is Super Mario Sunshine[/b]. De verwachtingen voor de BAFTA-awards waren dus ook niet erg hoog, gekeken naar de concurrentie. Met titels als HALO en GTA3 vallen de ,desalniettemin leuke, maar toch minder complexe titels van Nintendo een beetje tegen. Het is dan ook niet zo vreemd dat er geen awards van de specifieke Game-awards naar Nintendo-spellen gaan. Toch hebben twee spellen van Nintendo een award gekregen. Pikmin kreeg een award in de categorie Interactivity. Het volgende commentaar word er bij de award gegeven:

Shigeru Miyamoto has again created a game of great beauty, bucking the current trend for graphic realism to create an imaginative, original world. His central character is a cross between Mr Magoo and Casper the Ghost in a space suit. The environments are gloriously realised; the feel of the game is friendly and warm. Pikmin creates an immersive, coherent and utterly believable world where "hey I can do that" is the norm.

De tweede award voor Nintendo gaat naar [/b]Luigi's Mansion[/b] voor het geluid. Nietzozeer voor de technische innovatie, maar wel voor de enorm complete uitvoering. Leuke effecten en goede ondersteunende muziek maakten Luigi's Mansion tot de winnaar in deze categorie.

Beautiful in its simplicity, charming in its innocence, this soundtrack is completely worthy of carrying forward the Mario legend, blazing its own creative trail. Close attention to overall balance and separation, coupled with great sound effects and music content - and a healthy dose of humour - results in something approaching masterpiece. Inventive, uncluttered, and big fun.
